Things you need to keep in mind when looking for furniture
Here you can learn more about the maintenance of your garden furniture so you can enjoy your daily vacation as long as possible.
Polyrattan
Polyrattan usually does not require any extensive maintenance. You can easily remove light soiling with water and a cloth or a soft brush. If necessary, you can use a mild solution made from water and common household detergent or plastic cleaner. In the case of static charges, special antistatic sprays have proven to counteract this effect and are available in every well-stocked drugstore.
Aluminium
Aluminum is pretty easy to maintain. However, it should be noted that the surface can be attacked by very high chlorine concentrations or harsh cleaning/disinfecting agents. Therefore you should only clean your aluminum furniture with soapy water without any harsh chemical additives.
Sun protection and cover fabrics
Sun protection and upholstery fabrics usually require little maintenance. Coarse dirt can be washed off with water, a mild soap solution, and a cloth or sponge. Let the cover air-dry afterward. Some covers can also be removed and washed by machine. Please note the instructions for washing on the labels. Because of their low weight and large surface area, parasols are susceptible to wind, so please remember to fold and secure your umbrella if necessary. There will be no refund in case of storm damage.
Batyline® fabric
Simply clean these surfaces with water and a soft brush or cloth. You can use a mild detergent solution for stubborn stains. Please avoid abrasive cleaning agents, hard brushes, or coarse sponges!
Sunbrella® covers
Brush off superficial dirt before it settles firmly into the fabric. Spots should be removed as soon as possible with mild, lukewarm soapy water. Use a soft brush or sponge for this. Let the soap solution soak in briefly and work it into the fabric. Then make sure to wash off all the remaining soap with clear water. Allow the fabric to air-dry if possible. Sunbrella® covers are resistant to mold. However, mold can form on dirt that has not been removed. In this case, you should wash the removable Sunbrella® covers in the washing machine, running a program for delicate laundry.
Teak with or without a finish
Usually teak does not require any special maintenance. Due to the weather, a silver patina forms on the wood surface after a while. This is a natural process that many teak lovers appreciate and that doesn’t harm the wood or the furniture in any way.
Type 304 stainless steel
Stainless steel also requires little maintenance. Potentially occurring rust or small scratches can be removed with a stainless steel sanding sponge. In the case of stubborn marks, a cleaning stone proves to be a savior – this way you can quickly get your stainless steel garden furniture clean and streak-free again.
Bamboo
Untreated bamboo turns silver-gray when exposed to the weather. Many enthusiasts like this look and the process does not influence the stability of your product. You can counteract this color change by regularly oiling the bamboo furniture or treating it with clear varnish. Our bamboo furniture has already been treated accordingly by the manufacturer so it is protected right after purchasing. In order to protect the natural product against the effects of the weather, we generally recommend an immediate after treatment with clear varnish. You can get the necessary care products from specialist retailers or hardware stores.
Polyfiber (rope)
Polyfiber or rope is similar to furniture made of Polyrattan when it comes to maintenance. No extensive maintenance is required. Light soiling can simply be removed with water and a cloth or a soft brush. If necessary, you can use a mild detergent solution made from water and common household detergent or plastic cleaner. In the case of static electricity, special anti-static sprays have proven effective which counteract this effect and are available in every well-stocked drugstore.
Granite
Granite is a material that is easy to care for. Water or cleaning solution, rags, a sponge, or a brush cannot damage the granite surfaces. Rub in with a dry cloth. Remove acidic liquids (e.g. fruit juices or vinegar) and oily substances as quickly as possible as these could leave marks.
